RJT CHEER DIVISIONS
Rocklin Jr. Thunder is a member of the Sierra Athletic Conference (SAC) league and is an organization dedicated to offering a comprehensive cheer program for children ages 4-14. Squad eligibility is based on the cheerleader’s age on August, 1st 2024.
- MIDGET - 11, 12, 13 & 14
- JR. MIDGET - 10, 11 & 12
- PEE WEE - 9, 10 & 11
- JR. PEE WEE - 7, 8 & 9
- MASCOT - 5, 6 & 7
CHEER TRYOUT INFORMATION
Tryout Registration opens 2/16 and will be open through May 17th. The cost to tryout is $75. The tryout fee covers payment for facility, insurance coverage, tryout materials, operational costs, a t-shirt (if registered on time) and lunch on Saturday. Register by April 27th to guarantee a Tryout T-Shirt
Clinic and Tryout Schedule:
Date: May 18th and May 19th Location: Granite Oaks Middle School
- Saturday, May 18th from 9-3pm - Clinic
- Mandatory Parent Meeting - Saturday at 9:00am
- Sunday, May 19th from 9-12pm - Official Tryout
Clinic & Tryout Dress Code (to be worn both days):
- Hair in a high ponytail and bangs clipped out of face
- Black or blue Soffe style shorts (no pockets or zippers)
- Flexible lace up, cheer style shoes for tumbling and jumps
Placements Details: Participant’s squad placement will be according to the SAC age matrix, judge’s scores, clinic observations, tumbling, stunt experience and is at the discretion of RJT’s VP of Cheer. All efforts will be made to place every child trying out.
Important note: Keep in mind that your daughter is not trying out for a “Specific Squad”. Please review the Age Metrics in the Parent Handbook, so you know what squads your daughter is eligible for.
Tryouts Scoring: We have a panel of 3 judges for tryouts and will score each participant individually. Participants will also be evaluated by RJT cheer coaching staff during the clinic on the following:
- Ability to Learn & Take Directions
- Punctuality & Participation
- Attitude & Demeanor
- Loud & Clear Cheer Voice
- Technique & Sharpness of Moves
- Tumbling* & Stunting Ability
* Every child will be asked to demonstrate their tumbling ability even if it is just a forward roll or cartwheel.
REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
- SAC Medical Clearance Form (Book those physicals well in advance!)
- Birth Certificate - A copy is required for all NEW players. Can be uploaded at registration or brought to uniform fittings.
- $400 Volunteer Deposit Check or Buyout
MANDATORY MEETINGS
Parent Meetings - There will be a MANDATORY Parent meeting on May 18th at 9:00am at the beginning of the tryout clinic.
Uniform Fitting - There will be a MANDATORY cheerleader uniform fitting on May 22nd from 5-8pm in the small gym at RHS.
